A piece of Patagonia (Chile & Argentina - 12 days)
For those who are short of time this 12-day tour includes all the highlights of Patagonia in just one trip: the granite massifs of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre with their sheer walls, the Perito Moreno Glacier and its impressive wall of ice and the Torres del Paine National Park where there are two of the most beautiful glaciated valleys; Frances and Torres. There are two boat trips which also make it possible to reach these spectacular landscapes by sea.
This itinerary is geared towards occasional walkers. All hikes, except that on day 7, are day hikes which can be done with a small backpack.
This trip can start either in Chile or Argentina.
Starting in Chile:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, flight to Punta Arenas. Transfer from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales.
Day 2: Boat trip up the Ultima Esperanza Fjord and Serrano River. Night in hostel.
Day 3: Boat cruise on Lake Grey. Night in mountain refuge.
Days 4 & 5: Hikes in the Torres del Paine National Park, nights in mountain refuges.
Day 6: Hike in the park and then return to Puerto Natales.
Day 7: Transfer to Argentina and the town of El Calafate.
Day 8: Tour to the Perito Moreno Glacier. Transfer to El Chalten.
Days 9 & 10: Hike in the Los Glaciares National Park, night in hostel. Transfer back to El Calafate.
Day 11: Return trip to Punta Arenas.
Day 12: Flight to Santiago.

The trips that we offer include accommodation in comfortable hostels and the transfers and tours are provided by public transport (regular service).
For the occasional night or the whole tour we can suggest accommodation of a higher category if you so wish. Perhaps you would like a night in a luxurious estancia, a charming small lodge or a fancy boutique hotel, if so just ask for our recommendations and we can suggest a variety of our favorite lodgings to you.
For more freedom and convenience you can choose a private transport service for your transfers and excursions. We have worked for several years with highly-qualified drivers who have modern and comfortable vehicles.
If you would like to get to know the area better we can arrange for a French or English-speaking guide to accompany you for a few days allowing you to find out about the local history, the fauna and the flora of the national parks. |
